BERBERE'

PLAN BERBERE-18.png

In the vibrant heart of San Lorenzo, inside the Ex Dogana and surrounded by the gardens of the new hospitality hub The Social Hub, the latest Berberè pizzeria has opened its doors. It's the newest venture by the Aloe brothers, already known for their artisan pizza spots in Milan, Florence, Bologna, and London.
The project respects the identity that has always defined the brand: bringing high-quality, craft pizza to major European cities while preserving the soul of a welcoming, neighborhood pizzeria.
Starting from an architectural framework shared with other areas on the building’s ground floor—which includes restaurants, shared spaces, and zones designed for networking—the project takes shape within a semi-circular, fully glazed footprint overlooking a public park. The goal: to create a destination that opens up to the city and invites people in.
Inside, the space is articulated through irregular, sculptural volumes designed to perform specific functions and guide movement. Clad in walnut wood, steel, and pale yellow laminate, these elements break the uniformity of the space, introducing a tactile and material rhythm.
The main counter, stretching 20 meters along the curve of the glass façade, is set against a handcrafted backdrop of butter-colored terracotta tiles (15x15 cm), custom-made by Ninefifty. Along the curve, a 2x4 meter opening frames the open kitchen, highlighted by printed polycarbonate panels suspended from the ceiling.
Lighting plays a key role in defining the atmosphere throughout the day, combining track systems and directional spotlights with retro-style pendant and wall fixtures that add warmth and familiarity to the environment.
