CASA MORENO

Casa Moreno is a tourist accommodation located in the heart of Trastevere, a historical Roman neighborhood. It is a 65sqm ground floor apartment, in a nineteenth-century building. It is characterized by three windows opening on an internal courtyard; its load-bearing structure invades the interior spaces, sectioning the main areas, and the 3.80m high vaulted ceiling characterizes all the spaces. The architectural intervention will transform a dark and oppressive apartment into a welcoming and airy accommodation with an entrance hall, a master suite with private bathroom, a living room with a loft-style bedroom, a kitchenette and a second bathroom. In the living room, the main feature is the large iron wall, crafted by a numerically-controlled ma chine and then coated with baked enamel. This wall separates the living area from the bedroom, situated on a 100cm high platform. The color is one of the essential features of the project; the warm tints blend creating unexpected geometries on walls and ceilings. All the furnishings are custom-designed and crafted in collaboration with local artisans to create a distinct identity for the apartment and optimize the use of space.
